 Doņa Ana Virtual Education (DAVE) is an extension of Doņa Ana Community College.  DAVE is our distance learning program that offers students the flexibility of earning college credits outside the traditional classroom setting.  It is not designed to replace traditional classrooms, but offers an additional medium to extend learning opportunities.  DAVE expands the classroom beyond these boundaries by removing the barriers of time and location.  
 

DAVE students can learn from their homes, or workplace; even from the other side of the world as long as computer and Internet connectivity are available.  Distance Education courses count towards your degree in the exact same way as classroom courses and are governed by the same core competencies.
  
Our Distance Learning courses may require at most three face-to-face meetings at specific times and locations.  Students may be required to attend DABCC or other designated locations for presentations, midterms or final exams.  Alternative arrangements and proctoring is available and must be approved by the instructor.
    

DAVE utilizes a three tier approach to Distance Learning with WebCT as its primary DL tool. WebCT offers a complete asynchronous delivery methodology. Centra and ITV offer a synchronous delivery methodology. 

 
DAVE's  Primary  Virtual Education Tools

  • Blackboard (formerly WebCT) is a web-based Learning Management System. It consists of course content, chat, bulletin board, quizzes, student homepage, grade book, calendar, progress report, and other tools.  
  • Centra is a synchronous web delivery solution for conducting virtual or "live" classroom events through the internet. 
  • ITV- Interactive Television, a synchronous virtual communication system utilizing voice, video, web and data to enhance Learning.
